After fleeing from France due to religious persecution, the Huguenots settled in New Paltz and began their new life in America. The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is one of the most accessible activities for families visiting the Hudson Valley and it’s absolutely free! Destinations include Shawangunk Ridge views, a high rise rail bridge over Rosendale, and farms with horses and other livestock. Bike, walk, or explore the 23.7 miles of beautiful scenery.
